QA Dte Conducted NUMS Internal Graduate Program Review (IGPR) 2025-26

The Quality Assurance Directorate (QA Dte) successfully conducted the NUMS Internal Graduate Program Review (IGPR) 2025-26 from 01–03 June 2026 as part of its continuous commitment to maintaining and enhancing academic quality in graduate education.

 

The three-day review exercise was organized in accordance with NUMS quality assurance mechanisms and Higher Education Commission (HEC) PSG-2023 guidelines to evaluate the effectiveness, academic standards, and continuous improvement processes of graduate programs offered by NUMS constituent institutions.

 

The IGPR Panel comprised distinguished members, including the External Expert, Brig Taimur Baig (Retd) Director Quality Assurance NUTECH Islamabad, Prof Dr. Shazia Khalid, Acting Dean FSSH and Head of the NUMS Psychology Department, Dr Aman Karim Acting Head of Department Biotechnology, Mr Fida Hussain Consultant Quality Assurance, and Engr. Usama Rashed, Deputy Director QA.

 

The review commenced on 01 June 2026 at the NUMS Academic, Training and Research (ATR) Building, where the review panel held detailed deliberations and examined Graduate Program Review (GPR) documentation, supporting evidence, and quality assurance records. The panel thoroughly evaluated program files and discussed key academic and administrative aspects related to graduate education.

 

On 02 June 2026, the review panel visited the NUMS KHINAMS Campus. The visit began with an introductory session chaired by Maj Gen Farhan Tayyub, HI(M)(Retd) Pro Vice Chancellor and attended by NUMS Deans, Heads of Departments, and representatives from the QA Dte. The panel conducted comprehensive meetings with academic leadership, faculty members, and graduate students from various disciplines. The review process also included visits to classrooms, laboratories, library facilities, student support areas, and other academic resources. These interactions provided valuable insights into teaching and learning practices, research activities, student experiences, and institutional support mechanisms.

 

The final day of the review was conducted at the Armed Forces Postgraduate Medical Institute (AFPGMI) and the National Institute of Advanced Studies and Research (NIASR). The review panel engaged with graduate students, faculty members, Heads of Departments, and institutional leadership of AFPGMI to assess academic quality, program effectiveness, and research outcomes. The review panel held exit meeting with Maj Gen Irfan Mirza (Retd) Dean AFPGMI and Maj Gen Muhammad Rafique Commandant AFPGMI.

 

            

 

The GPR exercise concluded with review briefings and exit meeting with Lt Gen Wasim Alamgir HI(M)(Retd) Vice Chancellor NUMS, during which preliminary observations and suggestions/ recommendations were share. The event ended up with souvenir presented to External Expert.
