NUMS Celebrates International Clinical Trials Day 2025 in Collaboration with IQVIA

The National University of Medical Sciences (NUMS) marked International Clinical Trials Day 2025 with a collaborative event featuring the team from IQVIA, a global leader in clinical research and health information technologies. The event highlighted NUMS’s ongoing efforts to promote ethical, relevant, and patient-centered clinical research in Pakistan through meaningful partnerships.

Honoring the Legacy and Role of Clinical Trials

International Clinical Trials Day is observed each year on May 20, commemorating the first recorded clinical trial by James Lind in 1747. The day serves as a global reminder of how clinical trials contribute to medical progress, new treatment development, and better health outcomes for patients worldwide.

To mark the occasion, NUMS organized a special event to reflect on the history and future of clinical trials and to reaffirm its role in strengthening clinical research capacity in Pakistan.

Held at the NUMS Rawalpindi campus, the event brought together researchers, clinicians, academic staff, and regulatory experts, along with representatives from IQVIA Pakistan. The discussions provided a platform for sharing knowledge and experiences around key topics, including:

  • Trends and challenges in clinical trials in Pakistan
  • Maintaining ethical and regulatory standards
  • The use of technology and data in trial management
  • The importance of academic–industry collaboration in improving healthcare delivery

This interaction reflected a shared commitment between NUMS and IQVIA to strengthen clinical research through transparency, innovation, and collaboration.

Reinforcing a Culture of Ethical Research
