Prime Minister’s Youth Programme (PMYP) Team Visit at NUMS

A delegation from the Prime Minister’s Youth Programme (PMYP), led by Mr Jawad Ahmed Khan, visited the National University of Medical Sciences (NUMS) on 10 April 2025 from 11:00 am to 12:00 pm to assess the activities and overall impact of the Prime Minister’s Green Youth Movement (PMGYM). Prof. Dr Shazia Khalid warmly welcomed the delegation, the Focal Person for PMGYM at NUMS, along with Oversight Committee Members Dr Syed Babar Jamal and Ms Rukhshanda Majeed and PMGYM Cabinet Members Waleed Qaiser Sheikh (Captain), Amna Khan (Vice Captain) and other members.

During the visit, the PMGYM Cabinet members shared detailed insights into the 28 diverse activities carried out during the reporting period. These initiatives included a kitchen garden training workshop for mothers, a field trip to the Morgah Biodiversity Garden, community awareness campaigns highlighting the importance of indigenous plants, plantation drives across NUMS campuses, and a composting workshop to promote sustainable waste management practices.

The delegation was presented with a comprehensive report, a short documentary video, and newsletters to show achievements. Discussions also focused on plans, such as establishing a dedicated platform for GYM alumni, initiating research in environmental sustainability, and developing a comprehensive green data bank.

In recognition of their valuable contributions and continued efforts, the NUMS GYM presented the PMGYM team with a commemorative shield. A key topic of discussion was the potential role of PMGYM alumni and current members in advancing the movement’s objectives, which was received with great enthusiasm. The visit concluded with the announcement of a prospective visit by Mr Fahad Shahbaz, the Focal Person for PMGYM, to further deliberate with the PMGYM Cabinet on the initiative’s future direction.
