
As part of NUMS 10-year Anniversary, Department of Public Health organized a 3-day event from May 6th to 8th, 2025, at NUMS PWD Campus. The program was held under the overarching theme: “Bridging Awareness and Action: Building Equitable, Resilient and Sustainable Communities.” This theme was aligned with Sustainable Development Goals; 3, 5, 10 and 17.
Day Three Symposium was held on 8th May under the theme: “Inclusive Innovation: Empowering Women, Advancing and Strengthening Health Systems for Resilient Community.” It began with a welcome note by Dr. Nasir Javed, Lecturer NDPH who gave an overview of the event. A documentary was displayed on NDPH five year journey, highlighting the community initiatives and awareness sessions followed by a video recap of Day 1 and Day 2 activities. The high achievers of BSPH Alumni were awarded with certificates acknowledging their outstanding contributions towards NUMS
The first talk was delivered by keynote speaker Brig Prof Dr. Naila Azam (Retired), Head of Department Community Medicine, Foundation University Medical College, on the topic “Women Empowerment” sharing her valuable insights on the critical role women play in transforming healthcare.
The second keynote speaker; Prof Dr. Abdul Majid Rajput, Former DG Health, and Executive Director of National Health Institutions, delivered an influential talk on “Artificial Intelligence Challenging Healthcare.”
The third keynote speaker; Prof Dr. Matti ur Rehman Dean of Allied Healthcare Sciences, Health Services Academy Islamabad presented the topic “Strengthening Health Systems: A Grassroots Approach to Sustainability and Resilience.”
Prof Dr. Uzma Hassan, HoD Public Health in her vote of thanks, appreciated the distinguished speakers and acknowledged the efforts of faculty and students of NDPH. Prof Dr. Aisha Mohyuddin, Dean MDS congratulated the Department for curating such an impactful event.
The Pro Vice-Chancellor (Academics), Maj Gen Farrukh Saeed, HI(M), (Retired), concluded the event with a forward-looking speech, reaffirming NUMS' commitment to community-based health transformation and excellence in Public Health education. He presented the souvenirs to the esteemed guests and then visited the poster display area appreciating the student’s creativity and innovations.
The symposium served as a vibrant forum for knowledge exchange, critical thinking, and inspiration, reinforcing NUMS vision to develop capable and compassionate Public Health professionals’ equipped to meet the challenges of tomorrow.
