Kashmir Black Day 27 October

On 27th October, Kashmir Black Day is observed worldwide to mark the event 77 years ago when India, without any legal justification, took control of Jammu and Kashmir by force. Since then, the Indian Occupied Forces have been mercilessly killing innocent and unarmed Kashmiris, destroying their properties, and indulging in other inhuman acts. The National University of Medical Sciences (NUMS) observed Kashmir Black Day in collaboration with the NUMS Debating Club. Faculty, staff, and many students attended the event. They organized it to raise awareness and show solidarity with the Kashmiri people, supporting their ongoing struggle for the rights promised through multiple resolutions by the UN Security Council. These resolutions call for a free and impartial plebiscite, allowing Kashmiris to exercise their inalienable right to self-determination.

The event commenced with the recitation of the Holy Quran, followed by the National Anthem. Students of the NUMS Debating Club highlighted in their speeches the atrocities committed by the illegal occupation of Kashmir by Indian Occupation Forces. They also highlighted the historical significance of 27th October. They condemned the continued brutal use of force by the Indian Occupation Forces, including the imposition of a strict curfew and complete lockdown of the Valley.  They reiterated Pakistan’s ongoing diplomatic, moral, and political support for the rightful struggle of the Kashmiri people. The program included impactful TED-style presentations by students who shared personal reflections and global viewpoints on the Kashmir issue. A major highlight of the event was a screening of the insightful documentary titled “The Silent Suffering: How Much Longer?”  depicting Indian atrocities and brutal acts of the Indian occupying forces.

The dedicated team of the NUMS Debating Club seamlessly organized the event under the supervision of their Convener, Ms. Salma Naz Khattak, and the Club’s President, Ms. Pireh Fareed. Director of Student Affairs Brig Muhammad Asif Chattha (Retd) delivered closing remarks highlighting the significance of observing Kashmir Black Day and praised the contributions of all participants, especially the Convener of the Debating Club, for her efforts in arranging the event in a befitting manner. After speeches, participants held a Solidarity Walk with banners in their hands to show solidarity with Kashmiri brethren and condemn the cruelties of the Indian Government and occupied forces in Kashmir.
