DOCUMENT OF UNDERSTANDING (DOU) BETWEEN THE NATIONAL UNIVERSITY OF MEDICAL SCIENCES (NUMS), RAWALPINDI & THE DIABETES CENTRE (TDC), ISLAMABAD

On 08 March 2024, a significant milestone was achieved in the realm of healthcare research and development as The Diabetic Centre (TDC), Islamabad and the National University of Medical Sciences (NUMS), Rawalpindi, formalized a long-term understanding through the signing of a Document of Understanding (DoU)—the ceremony, held at NRFC, NUMS Sectt. Rawalpindi began a collaborative journey to advance healthcare practices, focusing on clinical trials and training opportunities, collaborating on research projects, advancing diagnostic and wound healing techniques, and capacity-building initiatives. 

 

The primary objectives of this DoU are to: 

  • Conduct clinical trials and related research activities in Pakistan.
  • Generate internship/professional training opportunities for students to familiarize themselves with a state-of-the-art working environment that meets international standards.
  • Collaborate in industry-driven research projects having the potential for commercialization.
  • Mutually work on implementing modern diagnostic techniques and strive for pioneering personalized/precision medicine.
  • Apply for mutual grants to fund innovative projects.
  • Emphasize and develop innovative wound healing techniques.
  • Hosting and joint venturing seminars/conferences on diabetes awareness and management with local and international partners.
  • Capacity-building sessions on the latest diagnostic techniques, markers, and genetic changes occur due to diabetes.
 

This Document of Understand (DoU) was signed by the Pro Vice-Chancellor (Academics) NUMS, Maj. General Farrukh Saeed HI(M) (Retd) and CEO of The Diabetes Centre, Mr Meesaq Arif, in the Document of Understanding (DoU) signing ceremony witnessed by esteemed officials from both institutions.

 

The signing of this DoU signifies a shared commitment to advancing healthcare research, education, and practice. This collaboration is poised to yield transformative outcomes, fostering innovation and excellence in healthcare delivery. Both entities aim to harness their expertise to address pressing healthcare challenges, nurture talent, and pioneer innovative solutions through this strategic alliance.
