On 27th August 2024, a workshop on "Borderline Personality Disorder: Epidemiology, Prevention, and Management" was successfully held at the Seminar Hall, Crown Plaza, NUMS PWD Campus. The event aimed to provide a comprehensive understanding of Borderline Personality Disorder (BPD), focusing on its epidemiology, prevention strategies, and management approaches. The workshop featured Prof. Dr. Aftab Alam Khan, the esteemed Head of the Department of Psychiatry at Ayub Medical College, Abbottabad, as the resource person. His expertise in psychiatry and in-depth knowledge of BPD offered valuable insights, making the session highly informative and impactful.
The Acting Dean of the School of Social Sciences and Humanities (SSH) chaired the workshop, and Prof. Dr. Muhammad Rizwan, Head of Clinical Psychology at NUMS, organized it alongside his team, which included Dr. Sajid Iqbal Alyana and Ms. Uzma Jilani. The session provided participants with practical knowledge through detailed discussions, case studies, and evidence-based strategies for managing BPD in clinical practice.
The Chief Guest of the workshop, Pro-VC, Maj Gen Farrukh Saeed HI (M) Retd, praised the resource person and the organizing team for their dedication and the quality of the event. He highlighted the importance of such workshops in advancing mental health education and appreciated the effort to address a critical yet often misunderstood mental health condition.
