The Internal Graduate Program Review (IGPR) of NUMS for the academic year 2024–25 was successfully conducted from May 12 to 14, 2025, by a panel of experts as per the requirements of HEC. The purpose of this comprehensive review was to evaluate the academic quality, resources, and operational effectiveness of graduate programs offered across NUMS institutions. The review process was planned as a three-day activity, including visits to NUMS PWD Campus, NUMS Secretariat (MH/NIASR), Army Medical College (AM College), and AFPGMI.
The IGPR Panel comprised distinguished members, including the External Expert, Air Cdre Prof Dr. Riaz Ahmad (Retired), Head of Department of Aerospace Engineering at NUST; Brig Prof Dilshad Ahmed Khan, SI(M), (Retired), Director Academics NUMS; Prof Dr. Shazia Khalid, Acting Dean FSSH and Head of the NUMS Psychology Department; Air Commodore Muhammad Ismail, SI(M), (Retired), Consultant Quality Assurance NUMS; and Engr. Usama Rashed, Deputy Director QA NUMS.
On Day 1, the review commenced at NUMS PWD Campus with meetings held with the Dean FMDS and Acting Dean FSSH. This was followed by a comprehensive review of graduate program documentation. The panel conducted meetings and interviews with graduate students and faculty members, gaining valuable insights into student experiences and teaching quality. The day concluded with a panel discussion and the initial drafting of the review report.
Day 2 began at the NUMS Secretariat MH with a presentation chaired by the Pro Vice-Chancellor (Academics), covering NUMS’ graduate programs, key institutional achievements, and strategies. Participants in the presentation session included senior management such as the Registrar, Directors of Academics, Directors of Clinical Academics, Treasurer, and Director Digital Technologies. The review panel then proceeded to Army Medical College, where they interacted with graduate students and faculty members and visited facilities. This was followed by a meeting with the Principal/Dean of AM College, who was briefed about the visit. The External Expert was presented with the college shield.
A similar review was conducted at AFPGMI, where the panel engaged with faculty and students from associated institutions including AFIP, AFIC, AFIT, and the College of Nursing. This was followed by an interactive meeting with the Commandant and Dean of AFPGMI. Both General Officers were apprised of the salient points of the visit. The Commandant presented the institute’s shields to all panel members.
The day concluded with an exit meeting between the panel members and the Vice-Chancellor at NIASR, where preliminary findings were shared. The review team appreciated the NUMS infrastructure (AM College and AFPGMI), strong leadership support, and collaborative culture across institutions, although they highlighted the need for broader access to digital learning resources. The meeting ended with the presentation of a souvenir to the External Expert by the Vice-Chancellor, followed by a group photo.
The final day (Day 3) was reserved for internal deliberations at the PWD Campus. The review panel finalized their observations and compiled the IGPR report. A structured implementation plan was also prepared to ensure that the recommendations are systematically followed up for compliance.
