The 77th Pakistan Independence Day at NUMS was a proud moment for the Department of Student Affairs, the Character Building Society (CBS), the Art and Media Society, the Debating Club, and the Gym Club, who collaborated to organize the event. The solemn recitation of the Holy Quran and the reverent singing of the National Anthem marked the beginning of the event, attended by the entire NUMS faculty and staff, each holding a national flag, transforming the campus into a vibrant celebration of patriotism.
As the Pakistan flag was proudly hoisted, the participants united their voices to sing the National Anthem and milli naghma. This collective act of patriotism served as a poignant reminder of the purpose behind commemorating Pakistan's independence: to educate our youth about the freedom struggle, the Pakistan Movement, and the relentless hard work and sacrifices made by our ancestors to achieve this nation.
Addressing the gathering, Convener of CBS, Muhammad Waheed Arshad, emphasized that while differences of opinion are inevitable in public matters, the sanctity of national security and dignity is non-negotiable. He urged the youth of Pakistan to lead the nation toward progress and not be swayed by external influences. "Pakistan is the result of our forefathers' immense sacrifices," he remarked. "We must uphold it at all costs and continue on the path of prosperity."
The event also featured a heartwarming cake-cutting ceremony, where all participants shared the joy and spirit of the occasion, fostering a sense of camaraderie and togetherness. The celebration culminated in a symbolic walk involving students, faculty members, and staff—a fitting conclusion to a series of inspiring and colorful events organized by NUMS to commemorate Independence Day.
