NUMS QA Directorate organized a webinar on Student Feedback for Quality Assurance on Tuesday, May 25, 2021 for faculty & staff of NUMS.
Director Quality Enhancement Cell Riphah International University (RIU), Islamabad, Brig Salim Ahmed Khan SI(M) (Retd) was invited to deliver his talk online.
The session was attended by more than one hundred participants from NUMS Main Campus, Army Medical College, AM College of Dentistry, AFPGMI, AFIP, WMC, Wah, CIMS Multan, CIMS Bahawalpur, HITECH Medical-Dental Colleges, Taxila, QIMS Quetta, Kharian Medical-Dental College, Kharian, KIMS Karachi, CMH Lahore Medical-Dental College.
Provost QA-RD, Dr S M Raza, Registrar, Director Academic (Clinical) & HoD Public Health, were also amongst the participants.
The Resource Person, who is a renowned expert on Academic QA deliberated on Improving Teaching Quality through Student Feedback and Students’ Grooming Mechanism. He shared statistical data on examples of positive/negative feedback given by students & discussed how the input can be used to improve student learning. He emphasized that students should be taught how to give meaningful feedback on automated systems for enhancing teaching/ learning process. He was happy to learn that NUMS has already automated its feedback mechanism.
In the Q& A session, the Director QA NUMS, Air Cdre M. Ismail, SI (M) (Retd), moderated the session and added that acquisition & analysis of transparent feedback is QA Dte’s responsibility, however, HoDs should share results with faculty for their development. The webinar ended with a note of thanks to the speaker- participants.
