E - Election for NUMS Clubs and Societies

Students' clubs and societies are essential to co-curricular activities in a higher education institution for developing overall personality and polishing individuals' potential/talent. The Department of Student Affairs (DSA) encourages students to actively participate in these societies to develop leadership qualities and esprit de corps and provide a platform for expressing their intellectual and creative strength. NUMS has ten different clubs and organizations, and their Presidents, Vice Presidents, and General Secretaries are elected through balloting by the registered members of the society every year.

Students' elections are integral to universities' academic and social fabric. They offer students the opportunity to represent their peers, advocate for their needs, and participate in decisions that shape the university's educational programs and social initiatives. These elections are also a training ground for democratic participation, promoting leadership, responsibility, and engagement among students.

This year, E-Voting was introduced to streamline the electoral process for students and promote a paperless, eco-friendly campus. This initiative simplifies voting procedures and significantly reduces paper waste, aligning to foster a more sustainable and environmentally conscious campus environment. With e-voting, the Department of Student Affairs (DSA) ensured efficient, transparent, cost-effective, and accessible elections, facilitating participation and improving the experience of voters and the organizing team.

At the end of the voting, results were announced in the presence of deans, faculty, and students. Newly elected office-bearers said, "We are pleased with the opportunity to represent different clubs and societies. We will work together to make a difference and will create an excellent environment for all, taking into consideration the best interest of the students and the university."

They all said that our primary motivation for participating in the election is "We want to connect with students to understand their views so we can create an even better university experience and also help our peers to make the most of the opportunities available to them."

While congratulating the newly elected office bearers, Dir Student Affairs Brig Muhammad Asif Chattha (Retd) said: "NUMS offers enriched activities and support to students to help them make the most of their time at the university. These elections are an excellent opportunity for us to ensure that our students' voices are heard so we can provide the best possible student experience to them. I'd like to take this opportunity to congratulate all those elected and wish them best of luck. I look forward to working and achieving great things together."

Ultimately, the Director of Student Affairs expressed gratitude to the DSA team for their commendable efforts in organizing the e-voting process in a professional and conducive environment, ensuring a smooth and efficient experience for all participants and contributing to the initiative's success.
