NUMS CELEBRATES CULTURAL DAY TO SHOWCASE DIVERSITY OF PROVINCES

The Art & Media Society (NAMS) of National University of Medical Sciences(NUMS) organized a Cultural Day at its PWD Campus on March 15, for providing students an opportunity to learn about different cultures and interact with people hailing from different provinces to enrich their understanding of about their way of living.  

         

The cultural day aimed to bring together students from different backgrounds to celebrate the diversity of cultures in the country. They provide an opportunity for students to learn about different cultures, embrace their own cultural identity, and build relationships with people from diverse backgrounds, said Dr. Shumaila Naz, Assistant Professor, DBS and convener NAMS.

 

Dean Multidisciplinary Sciences, Prof. Dr. Aisha Mohyuddin, HoD Health Professional Education, Prof. Dr. Aisha Rauf and HoD Psychology, Prof. Dr. Shazia Khalid graced the event as judges and praised the students' great potential and talent displayed during the event.

 

Cultural festivals are highly significant events at universities that encourage cultural understanding, while also showcasing the talents of students. It was attended by a large number of students and faculty members from the PWD campus and Armed Forces Postgraduate Medical Institute (AFPGMI), Rawalpindi. The festival also included a variety of cultural activities, such as cultural dance performances, cultural song performances, and poetry readings in different languages. The students impressed the audience with their creativity, talent and received support and praise from their instructors and guests.

 

Students representing different provinces participated in a cultural dress show and a cultural food contest, after which cash prizes were awarded to the winning teams based on their overall presentations. Attendees were pleased to try various cultural cuisines from different food stalls.

 

The festival helped build a sense of community on campus by bringing together students and faculty members from diverse cultural backgrounds. In addition, a "Clean-Up Campaign" was held to emphasize the importance of a clean and healthy environment.

 

Overall, the cultural festival was a great success in achieving its goals of promoting cultural diversity, providing a platform for students to celebrate their cultural heritage, and motivating the student body.
