
The 30th International Heating, Ventilation, Air-Conditioning and Refrigeration (HVACR) Conference 2025 was held on 19th - 21st June, 2025 at the Expo Centre, Lahore. The main theme of the conference was "Sustainable Environments through HVACR Technology." The aim was to bring together national and international experts in the fields of HVACR technology, environmental controls, and pharmaceutical compliance. Dr. Muhammad Asghar Khan, Senior Scientific Officer at the Bioequivalence Centre & Clinical Trial Unit NUMS, contributed to the event in multiple capacities, including as a conference speaker, expert committee member (Expert Committee on Environmental Requirements for Pharmaceutical and Laboratory Facilities), and nominee for an advisory role.
Dr. Khan delivered a presentation on a topic, titled “Optimizing Environmental Controls in Pharmaceutical Manufacturing: Ensuring Quality, Compliance, and Efficiency,” and addressed several critical aspects of environmental systems within the pharmaceutical industry. He focused on areas including the importance of HVAC systems in maintaining, good manufacturing practice (GMP) compliance, cleanroom classifications and control strategies, risk-based approaches to HVAC validation, and the implementation of energy-efficient HVAC designs that meet regulatory standards from DRAP, WHO, and the FDA.
His participation in this conference significantly enhanced NUMS’ visibility at both national and industrial levels. It also reinforced NUMS’ partnerships with key regulatory and industry stakeholders and aligned with the university’s strategic objectives related to quality assurance, research excellence, and sustainable development goals, particularly in the domains of Good Health and Well-being, and Industry, Innovation and Infrastructure, while also contributing to improvements in the regulated pharmaceutical environment.
Dr. Khan was awarded a Certificate of Appreciation and a Shield under the Pakistan HVACR Society’s CPD Program, and was also honored with an Honorary Membership of the society and invited to serve in an advisory role for future initiatives related to HVACR standards, professional training, and industry-academia collaboration.
