The National University of Medical Sciences (NUMS) has been a United Nations Academic Impact (UNAI) member since January 2020. Every year, UNAI invites applications for the “Millennium Fellowship Program”, a globally recognized initiative, from students from all universities worldwide to join an extraordinary community of young leaders for advancing United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (UN SDGs) in their respective communities.
The UNAI’s Millennium Fellowship was a semester-long (August – November, 2024) on-campus leadership development program to take the social impact to the next level through access to world-class training, connections, and recognition.
NUMS Quality Assurance Dte (Focal Dte for UNAI) shared the Fellowship invitation with all NUMS Academic Departments and Constituent Institutions to encourage their students to apply for the said program for creating an impact on the university efforts for achieving the UN SDGs from this international forum.
In the Millennium Fellowship class of 2024, a total of 4000+ Millennium Fellows were selected out of 52,000+ applicants from around the globe from 280+ campuses (less than 5%) out of 6000+ campuses across the world. From Pakistan, 377 students from 24 universities were selected for the Fellowship. It is a great privilege for NUMS that 26 of its students were selected for the Millennium Fellowship Program - Class of 2024; 24 as Millennium Fellows and 02 as Campus Directors (both females) to lead the group.
Given the above, a Certificate Award Ceremony was prudently organized by the NUMS Center for Lifelong Learning (NCL) on Tuesday, 23 October 2025, at NUMS PWD Campus to award UNAI’s “Completion Certificates” to the 25 successful NUMS Millennium Fellows (Class of 2024), and to present “Certificates of Contribution” to the 12 Project Mentors of community projects completed by the certificate winning students.
We extend our heartfelt gratitude to the worthy Vice Chancellor – Lt Gen Wasim Alamgir, HI (M), (Retd) – who graced the event as the esteemed Chief Guest and awarded the certificates to the recipients. His presence and support were invaluable. We also appreciate the presence of our esteemed Deans, Directors, Departmental HoDs, Project Mentors, Organizers, and Selected Millennium Fellows (Students) of NUMS, whose contributions make events like these possible.
