The mission of this program is to provide our graduates in-depth knowledge and understanding to conduct research in their field of interest and make them distinct by providing the opportunities to work in a collaborative environment with highly professional researchers where, they can translate the basic sciences research through innovative and creative approaches in order to offer best possible services to the society and humanity at large. A particular emphasis is placed on tackling scientific problems with a multi-disciplinary approach. In this regard, national and international research collaborations with major research groups and industries is the primary focus of the department.
The major objective of the MS graduate program in Microbiology and immunology is the successful accomplishment of a comprehensive, problem-based research project to (a) expand the existing knowledge in the field of microbiology and immunology (b) produce outstanding researchers capable of contributing in their particular areas of interest by tackling and solving scientific problems. (c) uplift and enhance the available local academic research capacities (d) and to prepare the next generation of leaders in research, academia and industry through a focused, high-quality graduate program in, with an emphasis on research, relevant to the needs of our population. Our graduates will work with industries to develop new technologies. The focus is to develop our graduates to be the leaders of tomorrow with confidence and innovation to engage in an ever evolving global culture. We offer internships, scholarships and international exposure to our distinct graduates. It is a place to transform ideas, research from boardrooms to bench; industries; to society and can make this world a better place to live. The NUMS postgraduate research labs are equipped with state-of-the-art facilities for translational research.
With the emerging concept and appreciation of the role of microbes in environmental and human health, potential in pharmaceutical, food and dairy, biotechnology industry, microbiologists now work as an integral member of interdisciplinary fields.
