The Chairperson welcomed the members of the NUMS IACUC. Two research studies submitted by MS Biological Sciences researchers were presented for ethical and procedural review. Each proposal was evaluated for scientific rationale, animal welfare considerations, study design, documentation quality, and adherence to national and institutional animal-care guidelines.

The committee discussed research justification, experimental methodology, planned animal handling procedures, dosage selection, housing standards, and compliance with 3Rs (Replacement, Reduction, Refinement). Members provided guidance where necessary to strengthen procedural clarity and ensure humane treatment during study execution.

Both studies were approved after detailed deliberations. Recommendations were issued to maintain appropriate feeding standards, ensure proper sanitation and hygiene, follow correct dosing protocols, and conduct all procedures under supervision of experienced personnel. The PI(s) were advised to incorporate any suggested refinements and adhere strictly to animal-care and safety requirements throughout the study period.

The committee appreciated the efforts of the researchers and emphasized the importance of responsible and ethical animal use in biomedical research. The Secretary confirmed that the decisions and recommendations would be communicated to the relevant PI(s) and supervisors for timely compliance.
