Ensuring healthy lives and promoting well-being at all levels is essential to sustainable development for building prosperous societies. There is an urgent need to fully eradicate a wide range of diseases and address many different persistent and emerging health issues. NUMS being a medical university has well-aligned and well-designed academic programs relevant to basic sciences, allied health sciences and social sciences that are in-line with the targets of various SDGs.
NUMS programs includes but not limited to General Medicine, Dentistry, Nursing, Public Health, Psychology (Mental Health), Pathology, Blood transfusion, Healthcare Administration etc. NUMS works in collaboration with health institutions like Drug Regulatory body of Pakistan (DRAP), National Institute of Health (NIH) and many others at local, regional, national and international level organizations to strengthen the collaborative research and capacity building in the field of medical sciences.
It also includes the collaboration for exchange of faculties, conducting clinical trials, bioequivalence studies, healthcare products development etc. Awareness on Sexual and Reproductive Health, mental health are also one of the top concerning areas of NUMS that are taken care from the student’s perspectives.
NUMS through conduct of regular Faculty Development Programs is striving for capacity building of its faculty and training them on the latest trends in the field of medical Sciences and healthcare that needs to be focused while designing the curriculums and course outcomes.
NUMS believes in provision of equal opportunities to grow as rounded individuals, taking merit and transparency as its guiding principles, where passion to be of service to mankind. NUMS has also aligned its efforts to develop its outreach programs and projects in the local community including student volunteering programs, inclusion of community/other members from other HEIs for capacity building and also for the well-being activities like sports. NUMS has declared its campuses as smoke-free wherein the regular and strict monitoring is done to check the use of Drug and Tobacco within the vicinity of its campuses to ensure a safe environment for the students and for the well-being of the society at large.
