Session on ‘Innovation & Entrepreneurship in Healthcare’

Office of Research, Innovation & Commercialization (ORIC) Directorate at NUMS arranged a talk on ‘Innovation & Entrepreneurship in Healthcare’ by Mr. Kamran Saeed, corporate trainer and consultant with more than 30 years of experience, in pharmaceutical and national enterprising organisations.

Strategic envisioning, redefining marketing strategies, field operation management, sales strategies formulation and operational systems are his expertise. The audience comprising of the research faculty at NUMS, students as well as faculty from Army Medical College were motivated and encouraged through a very interesting, thought-provoking and lively presentation.

The talk highlighted the need for a paradigm shift in our perceptions about willingness to embrace change. Mr. Kamran emphasized the need for Pakistan to start working on removing the mental barriers that limit innovative thinking and further stated that our country is now moving towards building a knowledge economy and this is not possible without innovation and creating an entrepreneurial stream. The stakeholders were encouraged to create commercial value through translation of their out of the box thinking.

He suggested that in terms of innovation, NUMS has the potential of offering innovative solutions in diagnostic, therapeutic, rehabilitation and nutritional domains.

The session ended with a brief Q&A session with the attendees. Dean of Research and academic development, Prof. K H Mujtaba Quadri presented Mr. Kamran Saeed with a NUMS’ shield as a memento and in appreciation for sharing his motivating thoughts on the afore-mentioned topic.
