A delegation from Queen Mary University of London (QMUL) comprising of Mr. Lee Wildman – Head of Global Engagement Office, Professor Paul Anderson – Chair Dental Postgraduate Committee & Mr. Nabeel Vehra – Regional Manager International Office visited NUMS on 17th February, 2020. This visit was a follow-up on the Document of Understanding (DoU) signed between the two universities in 2017 after which 6 faculty members from NUMS went for a short term specialized training to QMUL.
Discussing the way forward, QMUL appraised that it now has the license to open off-site campuses as a result of which it opened a campus in Malta. QMUL is in the process of gaining recognition for its curriculum from different countries, and has already gained recognition from the Indian & Malaysian Medical Council and is hoping for the same from Pakistan Medical and Dental Council (PMDC). Apart from this they are willing to collaborate with other Transnational Education (TNE) Models that may be mutually acceptable. The possibility of a collaborative Master’s Program for dental students in addition to joint trainings, joint publications, sabbaticals and visiting faculty from QMUL to NUMS in other fields were also discussed. Cooperative initiatives for Allied Health Professionals were also deliberated.
The Pro Vice Chancellor, NUMS, Maj Gen Muhammad Aslam (Retd) presented Mr. Lee Wildman with a shield as a memento.
