The NUMS Department of Public Health (DPH) welcomed students of the first batch of Bachelor of Science in Public Health (BSPH) Session 2020-24 at the Orientation session held on 15th June 2020. Considering the current lockdown situation, the session was conducted online in board room seven at NUMS Secretariat Rawalpindi. Total 24 Students enrolled in the Program were connected online via zoom link. Public Health faculty members attended the session on site, while the external faculty were connected via zoom link.
The session was presided by the Head of Department Prof Dr.Uzma Hassan. The chair welcomed and congratulated the students on being the Pioneer Batch of BS Public Health. She briefly introduced herself and shared the vision of the University. She reiterated the important role that public health plays in the development of a strong and resilient health system. The faculty members of Public Health; Associate Professor Dr. Ahmed Munir Qureshi, Assistant Professors Dr. Iffat Tehseen and Dr. Mahwish Hayee, Senior Lecturers Dr. Erum Monis and Dr. Rehma Gilani, Lecturer Ms. Maham Zahid and Mr. Danish Nadeem, gave their brief introduction, followed by Prof Dr. Aamir Shahzad Director Academic (Clinical) and external faculty introduction. The students also introduced themselves with each other, briefly highlighting their interests in Public health and reasons of joining NUMS.
Dr Rehma Gilani gave a brief overview regarding the BSPH Curriculum perspectives & Scheme of studies.
A training session on the learning management system Moodle, was conducted by Ms. Aqsa Arshad, Directorate of Digital Technologies followed by Question Answer session. The Chair concluded the session with a note of thanks to the students, faculty members and the concerned Staff. The online BSPH classes commenced on 15th June 2020.
