The NUMS Quality Assurance (QA) Directorate held its first Orientation Workshop on 14th February 2017 (Tuesday) at Professional Development Centre (PDC) at NUMS Secretariat, Rawalpindi. It was attended by participants from all constituent/affiliated colleges and institutes. The main aim of this interactive session was to formally communicate the role of QA Directorate and to get an overview of academic programmes from all NUMS institutes. The Vice Chancellor in his key-note address emphasized the continuing support of the University to all its constituent and affiliated establishments. Furthermore, he also reiterated the significance of academic programmes to conform to the quality standards as prescribed by PMDC, HEC, PNC, PVC and PEC. Our guest of honour, Air Cdre (R) Muhammad Ismail, Consultant Quality Assurance Division (QAD), HEC, briefed the audience in detail about HEC policy on Quality Assurance for the Tertiary sector. In this regard, he emphasized on a fast-track implementation of the quality standards for NUMS Academic programmes. Director QA, Dr Noor Amna Malik, thanked the participants for finding time to attend this event. She elaborated the role of QA Directorate and its importance in enhancing the quality of academic programmes being run. All participants briefed about their programmes, the number of students and their faculty. An active panel discussion led by the Vice Chancellor, Deans and various Directors of NUMS provided an opportunity to highlight mutual QA-related concerns and issues. Some useful recommendations were agreed upon. The Workshop ended with a vote of thanks for the participants and Workshop organizers, and an agreement to continue this fruitful discussion between the University and all its constituents.
