National University of Medical Sciences (NUMS) celebrated Pakistan Day on 22nd March 2018. The event was held to commemorate the efforts and sacrifices of our forefathers that led to the creation of Pakistan on 14th August 1947. The event was graced by the Ace of the Aces, Air Commodore (Retd) S. Sajad Haider (SJ) at the NUMS Secretariat, the Mall Road, Rawalpindi.
PR & Media Directorate at NUMS took the lead and successfully conducted the event. NUMS’ officials and young University Management Training Officers (UMTOs) attended the event in true letter and spirit. The ceremony commenced with Tilawat followed by Pakistan’s National Anthem to fortify the dignity to be a part of our beloved motherland.
On this occasion, a short movie created and designed by PR & Media was played that showcased the struggle and vision of Sir Syed Ahmed Khan, realisation of Iqbal’s dream, undaunted conviction of our Quaid, Muhammad Ali Jinnah and other leaders. It also unveiled the struggle of our forefathers at the challenging time of the creation of Pakistan. The sacrifices of more than ten million migrants, the largest mass migration in the history, and ongoing bloodshed and violence at that time were also highlighted. The movie concluded with the motivational thought that now is the time, we all should stand up and serve the nation with the same enthusiasm and passion, the country was created with.
The keynote speaker, Air Commodore (Retd) S. Sajad Haider shared his personal experience and thoughts with the audience, including his first encounter with the Quaid, Muhammad Ali Jinnah. He quoted Quaid’s golden words to encourage the audience and young team at NUMS to perform their duties with dedication and perseverance, and serve the best for the noble cause of national progress and prosperity. He emphasized that the Armed forces serve the nation both during peace and war times, and their valued services and sacrifices should be cherished. He also conveyed his message to the young doctors and researchers to inspire them to make determined efforts to bring change in the country.
He emphasized that we will celebrate the Pakistan Day in its true spirits, the day we will become a unified nation without any religious discrimination, and on the day, we all will realise, what are our duties towards our beloved motherland.
The audience was mesmerised by his aura and patriotism, and appreciated the efforts of NUMS to have conducted such a wonderful event.
