National University of Medical Sciences (NUMS) conducted NEB Exam Step-I on 15th April 2018 for a total of 3,128 students and NEB Exam Step-II on 13th May 2018 for a total of 1,698 foreign medical and dental graduates under auspices of Pakistan Medical and Dental Council (PM&DC). The exam is organised in three steps because it has been made compulsory for foreign medical graduates since 2012, to qualify three steps of NEB exam before being allowed to practice in Pakistan.
NEB Exam Step-III OSCE for foreign medical and dental graduates was orchestrated at OPD Complex of Combined Military Hospital (CMH), Rawalpindi and Armed Forces Institute of Dentistry (AFID), Rawalpindi on 30th June - 1st July and 7th - 8th July 2018. 1,325 foreign medical graduates and 9 foreign dental graduates appeared in the exam.
The OSCE at CMH Rawalpindi was conducted over 9 enclosures with 20 stations each (15 clinical and 5 rest stations), examining 180 students per session and 360 students per day. The students were examined by 135 high-profile clinical faculties each day from all over the country.
President PM&DC, Justice (R) Mian Shakirullah Jan and Registrar PM&DC, Dr. Waseem Hashmi appreciated the efforts of NUMS for the fool-proof conduct observing the decorum of a good examination system. Vice Chancellor NUMS, Lt. Gen. Syed Muhammad Imran Majeed, Pro-VC NUMS, Maj Gen (Retd) Muhammad Aslam and Director Coordination, Brig (Retd) Zafar Iqbal inspected the examination centre and directed to keep the integrity, objectivity and fairness of the examination process.
The success rate (pass percentage) for the medical and dental graduates was 81 and 89, respectively, and the result was uploaded on NUMS’ official website the next day.
