Professor Arif Asif, internationally acclaimed Interventional Nephrologist and researcher, Chair of Medicine and Internal Medicine Program Director, Jersey Shore Medical Centre, Hackensack University, USA visited NUMS on 22nd November 2017 and delivered two state-of-the-art lectures on “Creating Innovative Education programs in our changing Healthcare environment” and “Update on Interventional Nephrology” at Professional Development Centre (PDC), NUMS.
The distinguished guest was welcomed by Vice Chancellor, Lt Gen Syed Imran Majeed HI (M) and collaborations explored in the areas of mutual interest.
University leadership, faculty, researchers and members of Senior faculty from Army Medical College and Armed Forces Post Graduate Medical Institute (AFPGMI) attended the lecture. The current challenges in healthcare and the need to create a matching "disruptive innovation" were addressed in the design and delivery of the modern curricula in undergraduate and postgraduate medical education.
The second lecture illustrated the history and evolution of Interventional Nephrology. The session was attended by Senior Nephrology faculty members from Armed Forces Institute of Urology (AFIU), senior Interventional Radiologists from Armed Forces Institute of Radiology and Imagining (AFIRI) and senior leadership from CMH Vascular Surgery department besides postgraduate trainees through Armed Forces Post Graduate Medical Institute (AFPGMI).
The QA session was conducted by Dean Research and Academic Development, Prof Khaja H Mujtaba Quadri and chaired by Pro VC, Maj Gen Muhammad Aslam (Retd) TI (M), following both the talks.
