At NUMS Professional Development Center, in-house orientation sessions on Academic and Research Development at NUMS are planned to be organized on a quarterly basis.
The first of these sessions was conducted on Wednesday, January 25, 2017. The orientation session provided a platform to NUMS multidisciplinary faculty and departments to present their current academic/research work, how they can chip into research with their expertise and to hunt for innovative and diverse avenues and ideas for achieving NUMS vision.
The highlights of the session included -Lessons on Iqbal and Rumi pertaining to NUMS vision, HEC and Universities- a symbiotic relationship, Introduction to IRB, Nursing is Arts and Science, Projection of Research and Academics through PR and Media cell, Information Technology in Research, Applications/Research of Remote Sensing and GIS in Medical Health Care, Application of Operational Research (OR) for evaluation of Processes, Formulating a Research Question and Scope of Behavioral Sciences at NUMS with reference to Medical Anthropology. Furthermore, various research projects were presented by Post-Doctorate Researchers and Behavioral Sciences’ Research Officers.
Through an interesting interactive activity, the significance and procedure to taking an informed consent was stressed upon.
The Dean of Research and Academic Development concluded the session by emphasizing on the significance of such forums for better understanding of integrated model NUMS intends to portray.
