National University of Medical Sciences (NUMS) hosted ‘An Evening with Rumi’ in collaboration with Higher Education Commission (HEC), and was held on 8 th September 2017 at HEC Auditorium. The book titled ‘Bishnau’ written by Dr Aziz Ali Najam, Provost Strategic Planning and Development NUMS, was launched at the event, while a mesmerising presentation on ‘Rumi’s Concept of Divine Love’ was also presented.
Dr Mukhtar Ahmad, Chairman HEC as Chief Guest and Lt Gen Syed Muhamad Imran Majeed, HI(M), Vice Chancellor NUMS as Guest of Honour graced the occasion. The guests from all walks of life attended the event including diplomats, Ambassadors of Iran and Tajikistan, along with Academicians including Vice Chancellors, Heads of Departments, professors from different universities in Rawalpindi/ Islamabad and literary scholars, likewise, HEC staff, and NUMS faculty and staff also attended the event.
The event preceded with a welcome note by Professor Dr Arshad Ali, Executive Director HEC. The book launch commenced with a few comments by Maj Gen (Retd) Prof Dr Muhammad Aslam Pro Vice Chancellor NUMS and the book was presented to the Chief Guest, Guest of Honour and Pro Vice Chancellor. Dr Mukhtar Ahmad presented the souvenirs to the invited speaker Janab Iftikhar Arif, Chairman, Muqtadra Quami Zaban (National Language Authority), who later shared his views about the book.
Dr Aziz Ali Najam conveyed the message of ‘Rumi’s Concept of Divine Love’ in his captivating talk. The event concluded with remarks by Chief Guest and Guest of Honour. All the speakers highlighted that Rumi’s message and his favourite themes are beautifully reflected in Bishnau.
